Meet Alan K’necht

Alan is an internationally published authority on the business side of technology, with deep product knowledge on the challenges of in digital  analytics implementation.

Professional experience

Alan K’necht is a partner and the Vice-President of Analytics & Social for Digital Always Media Inc. of Toronto. In this role, he is the lead consultant, for Digital Analytics and Social Media services and training for DAM’s clients. Under his tutelage the success of DAMs digital marketing efforts (Search Engine Optimization, Paid Search Marketing, Social Marketing and other efforts) for its clients is measured, analyzed, evaluated and new opportunities are identified.

He is co-author of the award winning book “The Last Original Idea – A Cynic’s View to Internet Marketing”, writes regularly for a variety of publications including Search Engine Land and Marketing Land and is a frequent Keynote and session speaker at conference world-wide.

Alan is also an online lecturer for the University of San Francisco’s “Digital Marketing” course and is their head of Analytics. In this role, he developed the course analytics curriculum and ensures that it remains current and relevant.

Former President of K’nechtology Inc. where Alan oversaw the growth of his own analytics and Search Marketing agency for over 10 years. For over 15 years, Alan developed an in-depth understandings off all aspects of Internet marketing from website development to use of social media and how to use Digital Analytics to measure effectiveness of these efforts to ensure all efforts are helping an organization and not working against them.

Since 1994, Alan has worked with a variety of business to implement effective digital strategies and analytic solution. So of the recognized brands include: Toyota Canada, Direct Energy, Shred-It, Cision International, Wiley Publishing, Canada Life, US Navy, Rogers Media, and HBC. Alan has the experience to provide valuable, practical and objective instruction and guidance.

Education

Alan K’necht studied and graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Economics. It’s there that his passion for the business side of computing was born, where he was first exposed to the technology that would evolve into the Internet and learned how to apply statistical data for better business decisions.

Volunteer work

Born in Toronto, Canada, Alan and spends considerable time with his family and is the co-host of one of the top 10 rated TwitterChats for business, #SocialChat that takes place every Monday night at 9pm Eastern.
